The husband-and-wife team behind Awakened Union

Awakened Union grew from something that first began reshaping us.

We began awakening to a different way of seeing the gospel—not as a story of trying to find our way back to God, but of learning to live from the union that has always been.

And somewhere in that awakening, we encountered a word that seemed to give language to so much of what we were discovering: perichoresis—the Divine Dance of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

A continual movement of Love. Making room. Receiving. Responding. Giving themselves to one another. Three distinct persons, yet perfectly one.

What began as theological curiosity quickly became something much more personal.

If we weren’t standing outside of Love trying to earn our way in, what would it look like to actually live from that reality?

And eventually, that question found its way into our marriage.

We began to see how easily marriage can become another place of performance—trying to be the right spouse, saying the right thing, protecting ourselves, hiding the parts we aren’t sure will be received.

But what if marriage could look more like the Dance?

A place where we make room for one another. Where we ask with curiosity, answer with honesty, listen without immediately trying to fix, and become brave enough to take off the masks we’ve learned to wear.

A place where two distinct people can become more fully seen and fully known while continuing to move toward one another.

Awakened Union grew from that journey.

The photo here was taken in the early days, just after we made it official. We were sitting in the car talking through the vision, dreaming about what Awakened Union might become, and trying to put words around something that had already begun reshaping us.

Everything we create is an attempt to give that awakening a tangible place in ordinary life.

Something you can hold. Something that interrupts the ordinary. Something that invites us to slow down, become curious again, make room for one another, and participate in the Love we’ve already been given.

Not another way to work harder at marriage.

Not another invitation to perform.

An invitation to participate.

Welcome—we’ve been waiting for you.
